What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a mental health care approach in which a trained therapist supports and helps clients who are dealing with situations such as depression, self esteem issues, anxiety, and trauma. Therapy may include techniques to examine their life, history, personality, upbringing, family dynamics, social situation and cultural context in a bid to help them understand how they got where they are, the factors both in their and out of their control, and coping strategies for creating a healthier and more balanced life.

What is art therapy?

Art Therapy can be used in many ways to aid the psychotherapy process. The most powerful use is for the metaphor the client can see in their art work, which can give them perspective, communicate from their unconscious, and help them process what feels impossible to say out loud. But art making can also be a powerful meditation and mindfulness tool, and at it's most basic function, reminds us that we are all creative, dynamic beings.
